Independence is about a forty-minute drive from our shop, and its houses span more history than anywhere else we work.
This is one of the oldest cities in the metro, and the housing proves it: Victorian-era and early-1900s homes in the blocks around the historic square, solid post-war neighborhoods ringing them, and suburban subdivisions from the '60s through the '90s spreading east. Each era remodels differently, and we've built our crew to work all three.
The older the house, the more the work rewards patience — trim worth matching, plaster worth respecting, and structure that needs an honest assessment before anyone swings a hammer. That's how we bid Independence projects: scoped up front, priced in line items, and led on site by the owners.
Near the square, Independence homes carry real history — tall ceilings, original staircases and millwork, and floor plans from an era of separate rooms. Remodeling them is closer to restoration than renovation: the goal is a house that lives like today without looking like it forgot where it came from. That's finish-carpentry work, and it's the part of the trade we take most seriously.
East of the historic core, the post-war and suburban neighborhoods remodel like the rest of the metro: kitchens ready to open up, original bathrooms ready for real tile, and basements that were never finished. Two very different project types, one crew comfortable with both.
Yes — older housing stock is some of our favorite work, and Independence has plenty of it. Matching trim profiles, working with plaster, and assessing century-old structure honestly are exactly the skills we staff for. Remodeling permits run through the City of Independence, and we handle the permitting legwork and inspections as part of every project — the schedule in your proposal already accounts for them.
It's about forty minutes from our Harrisonville shop, at the northeastern edge of our regular service area. We schedule Independence projects deliberately — the crew's day starts on your jobsite, not in traffic — and the owners are on site the same as they are everywhere else.
